Our church maintains a small library of books which can support the general reading and study interests of members around theology, the Bible, and the Church. We have used an online cataloguing service to compile a searchable listing of the titles we hold.

Library Catalogue

You can view the online catalogue of our church library at: http://www.librarything.com/catalog/mccm

The catalogue is designed to be both browsable (via page-by-page listings), and searchable (by keywords such as author, title and tag/subject). Additionally, for many titles it is possible to link to entries in Amazon and other online services where reviews, comments and further information about the title can sometimes be found.

The best way to become familiar with the functionality of the catalogue is to visit it and try out some searches. All the options are very intuitive. Here are some sample searches to try:

  • Go to the catalogue and try changing the display format to Style C, then note how the title listing deals with titles beginning with The. So, do we have a copy of C.H. Dodd's The Authority of the Bible?
  • In the Search this library box, try entering Barclay, leave the drop-down box as Books, and click Search, to see how many titles we hold by the prolific scholar William Barclay. If you look now in the Shared column, you will see that many other LibraryThing users also hold these titles, and the 'speech bubble' on some of them indicates that quite a few of his titles have prompted reviews by those library owners. Click on one or two to see what other owners think of his works.
  • On the line near the top of the screen which shows 'mccm:profile|catalog|tags' click on Tags. This will show you all the subject headings which have been used in the catalogue. Click on any one of the tags in the list (e,g, Saints), and you will get a list of titles which have had that tag applied to them.

    Loan Requests

Owing to space limitations in church, there is no open access to where the library collection is housed, hence the need to make specific arrangements in advance for the pickup and return of items.

Anyone wishing to borrow items from the library should either contact the Pastor to check availability.
