Daily
Devotional
We
produce a daily prayer devotional which is given out each week
in church. It has a Psalm, prayer, reading, thought for
the day and prayer suggestions for every day of the
week. It normally follows the themes we are looking at
in our weekly sermons, but also usually has one reading from
one of the saints commemorated by the world wide
Church.
Sermons
on Line
Missed
church on Sunday? Don’t worry, you can catch up with the
sermon by going to our website, www.mccmanchester.co.uk
and pressing the sermon button. This means you don’t
miss the weekly teaching designed to help us live as more
faithful disciples of the Lord Jesus. You can also
download the weekly devotional booklet there
too.
Birthdays
in June
Elen’s birthday
is on the 8th June and Alison Woolley’s is on the
26th.
Borrow
A Book
Visit
our library and see if there is a book you would like to
borrow. Simply email Andy your choice and pick it up at
church on Sunday. We ask for a donation of £2 per book
and a small deposit per book.

TODAY'S
SERMON |
|
Today is Trinity
Sunday – the day in the Church’s year where we reflect on the
very nature of God. The Trinity – the idea that God is
three distinct persons – traditionally named “Father, Son and
Holy Spirit” or contemporarily “Creator, Redeemer and
Sustainer” is a mystery to be explored rather than a doctrine
to be understood. The Earliest Christians came to use
the term “Trinity” to explain their experience of God who
seemed to be shown in three distinct
ways.

THIS
AND THAT |

Interested
in ordained ministry? To be
ordained in MCC you need a degree in theology and some other
add on courses. To start the process you need to attend
a “Readiness to Enter Vocational Ministry” long weekend where
you will work with our elder and other tutors to map your
journey towards ordination. If you are interested you
should, in the first instance, chat to Andy. The weekend
will be held either in August or October. If you haven’t
got a degree in theology MCC has made it possible to train in
a number of institutions in our Region including Queens in
Birmingham (where many Anglican
and Methodist clergy train) and also through distance learning
at the University of South Africa.
Neil has a new
job! Starting in September he will be teaching at a
Catholic secondary school in Glossop. He is currently
negotiating with the school for this to be four days a week –
please pray for the success of these negotiations.
Glenna, our
Elder, is currently in the United
States to be with her
partner, Kermie, who is undergoing the last of her four
chemotherapy treatments. Please keep them both in your
prayers.

THANKS |
|
Thank you
for your generosity in recent weeks. Last week 24 people
attended worship and the collection was £64.50 on top of the £1500
or so that is sent by standing order to our bank each month.
56 people attended worship with us at least once in May. We
also collected the last of our Smartie Tube fundraiser money.
We now have raised an amazing £638.16 for the Immigration Aid
Unit.

AN
EASY WAY TO EVANGELISE |
|
Many of us came to MCC
because it was recommended by someone else – this method of being
introduced to us is best as it means the new person has some
definite knowledge of and contact with us which will help through
those first weeks of getting to know us. However, many of us
can be quite shy when it comes to talking about our faith. One
way we can help to “spread the word” is to use our email and
electronic networks. Many people put a little “signature” text
at the end of their emails. Why not add our web address to
this? For example: “www.mccmanchester.co.uk it’s good, I’ll be
there, want to come to?” or “check this out” followed by our
address. This is especially effective if you are on an
internet discussion list. If you have a profile on yahoo,
MySpace, or other
chat-room why not add our website to your profile?
