Welcome to this newsletter and to the ministry of
MCC Manchester. If this is your first
contact with us, know that you are welcome.
You can take part in our ministry through
attending our worship services or mid week
meetings, or by using the various resources on our
website. You can keep in touch with us in
person, by email, or by text. It is our
prayer that our people grow as committed disciples
of the Lord Jesus.
Today's
Service continued the theme “welcome to a
feast†looking at episodes in Jesus’ ministry
where teaching and encounters happened in the
context of a meal. Dan preached
on the invitation to the great feast where all are
to be invited and made welcome.
This and
That Next Sunday after
worship we are off to the Croma restaurant
in Chorlton again. This is a
really nice place with lots of
parking. Please sign up at the
back of church – lifts will be available
too. John Lawson worked
with us for some months as part of his training
for ordination, he had to stop his time with us
due to his partner, Ron’s, illness.
Ron died on Monday, please remember John in
your prayers at this time.
Anna is recovering well from
surgery, Alan’s surgery went well but he
has to have three more operations before his sight
will improve. Our Emmaus
Group is having a short break and meets next
on Thursday 29th November at Gwen and Margaret’s
home in Altrincham. This is a
small group meeting together to study and get to
know each other. See them for
more details. If you would like
to sing or play an instrument in worship
see Neil or Philip – we are always looking for
more people to get involved.
The main commitment - other than helping to
lead the singing and music in worship – is to be
at church for 3pm to rehearse.
Thanks.
Thank you for your
generosity last
week.
32 people
worshipped with us and the collection was
£235. This is on top of the
£1500 or so a month that is given directly to our
bank account via standing order.
Thank you as well for the £163 raised for
the new MCC plant starting in January in
Glasgow. The Board have decided
to add the Gift Aid to this and make up the
donation to £250 which we will send to Jane and
Kate.
Annual General
Meeting.
Each
year we have our AGM on the second Sunday of
Advent whilst St Chrysostom’s host the Victoria
Park Carol Service. This year
our AGM falls on Sunday 9th
December. We will, therefore,
NOT be serving refreshments after church on that
Sunday. Instead we will travel
to Sedgley Park Police College (lifts available)
for a Christmas Dinner, AGM and concert from
Neil. The cost for the meal is
£18 (unwaged £10) but we don’t want to exclude
anyone on the grounds of cost.
Please use the bookings forms and return
this with your payment to Andy.
Elections
We have elections for three positions on
our Board of Directors. Each
post is for two years. The
Board share, with Andy, the leadership of the
church in the areas of finance, policy and
administration. They meet at
least four times a year and do much work by
email. Our constitution lays
down exacting criteria for Board members and these
are outlined on the nomination forms.
Similarly we will elect a lay delegate to
serve as our representative to Fellowship and
Regional Conferences. The Lay
Delegate is not a member of the Board but attends
Board meetings and takes a full part in the
discussions. Nomination forms
are at the back of church, or can be emailed to
you, and should be completed and returned to Andy
well before the AGM.
Andy's Movements this
Week Andy is working
from both home and church this week.
He has meetings on Monday night and takes
the Quiet and Calm Service on Tuesday
evening. He sits in court on
Thursday and Friday.

Daily
Devotional
You can get our daily
devotional in church or on our website. It
is designed to help us grow spiritually by
giving a resource for our own daily prayer
times. It consists of a short "order of
worship" of a Psalm, other Biblical reading and
a reflection. It also gives ideas of
things to pray for.
