Welcome to this newsletter and to the
ministry of MCC Manchester. If this is your
first contact with us, know that you are
welcome. You can take part in our ministry
through attending our worship services or mid week
meetings, or by using the various resources on our
website. You can keep in touch with us in
person, by email, or by text. It is our
prayer that our people grow as committed disciples
of the Lord Jesus.
Today's
Service marked the last Sunday of Advent and we
reflected on more characters from the Christmas
story. We reflected, through
the music, recorded readings and reflections and
the visual images on aspects of the characters
involved in the Christmas story.
This and
That
Moses thanks everyone who gave bits and
pieces for his new flat in Miles
Platting. He moved on Monday
and is now settling in. It
has been a hard year for many MCC clergy
personally. Yesterday Mia
Andersen, pastor of MCC Copenhagen, was with her
father as he died. Chris Dowd
is flying to Australia on Boxing Day to spend some
time with his terminally ill father and Jane
Clarke is spending Christmas in London with Kate
and her family as they spend time with her father
who is terminally ill. We
have been awarded a grant of £750 from the
Manchester Pride Community Fund for our
Transgender group. This should
pay the rent for the group meetings with a little
left over for general expenses.
The Church office is closed now
until 7th January.
Thanks.
Thank you for your generosity last
week.
43 people
worshipped with us and the collection was
£100.50. This is on top of the
£1500 or so a month that is given directly to our
bank account via standing order.
Christmas
Services.
We have a traditional Midnight Mass
tomorrow, on Christmas eve, starting at
11.30pm. This is a simple
service following the traditional liturgical
structure of Christian worship.
There is no MCC service on Christmas Day
but we are warmly welcomed to mass at St
Chrysostom’s at 11am. We have
a Christmas celebration next Sunday,
30th and will celebration Epiphany
together on Sunday 6th
January.

Daily
Devotional
You can get our daily
devotional in church or on our website. It
is designed to help us grow spiritually by
giving a resource for our own daily prayer
times. It consists of a short "order of
worship" of a Psalm, other Biblical reading and
a reflection. It also gives ideas of
things to pray for.
Birthdays This
Month
Margaret's was on
the 18th and Andy's on the
24th.
On Our
Website
Our website is
an excellent way to keep in touch with what we
are doing. You can catch up with the
sermon, and listen to it, if you missed church,
you can download the daily devotional, read
the newsletters, visit the church blog, do
some quizes and find out more about
us.
