Welcome to this newsletter and to the ministry of
MCC Manchester. If this is your first
contact with us, know that you are welcome.
You can take part in our ministry through
attending our worship services or mid week
meetings, or by using the various resources on our
website. You can keep in touch with us in
person, by email, or by text. It is our
prayer that our people grow as committed disciples
of the Lord Jesus.
Today's Service continued our sermon series looking at
spiritual and moral insights which can be drawn
from both Scripture and the songs of
Madonna. We looked at the song
"Nothing Really Matters" and considered how image,
wealth and fame don't really matter. The
issue of image is particularly important for many
of us; in the final analysis it is our identity as
children of God which is most important.
Thanks
for your generosity
last week. 28 people attended worship and
our collection was £110.50 on top of the £1500 or
so which goes directly to our bank from standing
orders. 62 people attended MCCM at least
once in August compared to 41 who attended
in August last year.
This
and That Our new Emmaus
group meets this Thursday at Gwen
and Margaret's home in Altrincham. It meets
between 7.30pm and 9.30pm and continues to look at
the theme of prayer using the Lord's prayer as a
model. If you wish to go please speak to
Margaret or Gwen for more details.
Steve is recruiting people to join a
Social Action team
who will write letters on behalf of prisoners of
conscience around the world. Please speak to
Steve if you wish to join this group or email him
via socialaction@mccmanchester.co.uk
The Bishop of
Manchester’s Advisory Group on Sexuality
is hosting a monthly Eucharist for Anglican lgbt
people, their families, friends and supporters on
the 1st Saturday of each month at
5.30pm here at St Chrysostom’s.
St Chrysostom’s are also holding a coffee
morning for Macmillan Cancer
Relief on Tuesday 1st October
from 10am until 12noon. All
welcome.
Come and
Sing! On Saturday 3rd
November we are holding a "Come and Sing" day from
11am until 4pm. This is a chance to improve
our confidence in singing, learn some new material
which we will be using in church and get to know
each other a bit better. See Neil or Philip
for further details.
Wanted! We are always
looking for more people to get involved in
practical aspects of ministry. If you would
like to sing or play an
instrument see Neil or Philip - the commitment is
to be at church for 3pm to join the
rehearsal. We would like more people to
read, write and deliver the prayers,
celebrate Holy Communion and lead
worship. Anyone wanting to train
for these areas of ministry should see Andy.
We would love to have some volunteers who would
help with the set up (means
getting to church early) and the clear
up (10-15 minutes worth of work after
worship). See Andy for more details!
Andy's Movements this
Week Andy will be in the
office on Monday and Tuesday this week. He
sits in court on Wednesday. You can contact
Andy on the church phone, in an emergency you can
call him via the mobile. |

Daily
Devotional
You can get our daily
devotional in church or on our website. It
is designed to help us grow spiritually by
giving a resource for our own daily prayer
times. It consists of a short "order of
worship" of a Psalm, other Biblical reading and
a reflection. It also gives ideas of
things to pray for.
Birthdays This
Month
Masoud's birthday was on
8th and Neil's is on 29th.

an excellent way to keep in touch with what we
are doing. You can catch up with the
sermon, and listen to it, if you missed church,
you can download the daily devotional, read
the newsletters, visit the church blog, do
some quizzes and find out more about
us.
