Welcome to this newsletter and to the
ministry of MCC Manchester. If this is your
first contact with us, know that you are
welcome. You can take part in our ministry
through attending our worship services or mid week
meetings, or by using the various resources on our
website. You can keep in touch with us in
person, by email, or by text. It is our
prayer that our people grow as committed disciples
of the Lord Jesus.
Today's
Service reflects on the call of
the first disciples who left everything to follow
Jesus and become “fishers of
peopleâ€. Like them we are
called to follow Jesus too into the mission fields
of our own culture.
This and
That
If you haven’t yet completed our
congregational survey please do
so! We have had 47 responses
back so far which is wonderful.
Today is Holocaust Memorial Day and
Fr Ian and St Chrysostom’s are marking this with
a special service at 6.30pm.
Any of us who wish to stay to this service
are warmly welcome.
Andy has been asked to teach the
Introduction to Sexuality Studies course to
trainee ministers in MCC and others who may be
interested. This will happen in
Manchester, hopefully, in November and you are
welcome too! The course
will hopefully be offered at the police college in
Sedgley Park and cost around £150 for residential
students and £80 for non-residential.
More details to
follow!
Thanks.
Thank you for
your generosity last week.
35 people
worshipped with us and the collection was
£153. This is on top of the
£1500 or so a month that is given directly to our
bank account via standing order.
Visiting
Speaker. Next week our speaker will be Hermione
McKewen from the Immigration Aid
Unit. We will be raising funds
for the Unit during Lent and Hermione will be
speaking about the work of the Unit whilst
considering the Biblical Injunction to “love the
stranger for you were once strangers in
Egypt.â€
Getting to Know
MCC.
On Tuesday at 8pm anyone who is new to the
congregation is welcome to come along to find out
more about us. We meet in the
social room – access on Anson Road and will chat
a bit about MCC’s history and
beliefs. It’s a chance to ask
questions and to get to know each other a bit
better.
Lent
starts a week on
Wednesday! We will have a
service on Shrove Tuesday and will be serving
Pancakes. This is a chance to
mark the start of Lent, “Shrove†is an old
English word meaning confession – people
traditionally went to confession on Shrove Tuesday
and spent Lent showing their repentance for
sins.
Come and
Sing on Saturday
1st March from 11 until
