Welcome to this newsletter and to the
ministry of MCC Manchester. If this is your
first contact with us, know that you are
welcome. You can take part in our ministry
through attending our worship services or mid week
meetings, or by using the various resources on our
website. You can keep in touch with us in
person, by email, or by text. It is our
prayer that our people grow as committed disciples
of the Lord Jesus.
Today's Service
looked at the Holy
Family of Joseph, Mary and Jesus, how Joseph cared
for his wife and child through discernment to
God. John preached for us for
the first time.
This and
That
Moses thanks everyone who gave bits and
pieces for his new flat in Miles
Platting. He in before
Christmas and is now settling in.
If anyone has spare time and likes to
decorate ? or hang curtains, Moses would love to
hear from you! It has been a
hard year for many MCC clergy
personally. Mia Andersen,
pastor of MCC Copenhagen, suffered the loss of her
father. Chris Dowd pastor of
MCC Birmingham is in Australia to spend some time
with his terminally ill father and Jane Clarke is
in London with Kate, her partner, and her family
as they spend time with her father who is also
terminally ill. We have been
awarded a grant of ?750 from the Manchester
Pride Community Fund for our Transgender
group. This should pay the rent
for the group meetings with a little left over for
general expenses. The Board
will be going away in the New Year to review
our goals and reflect on the various factors which
helped us grow in 2007 to prepare for further
growth in 2008. The Church
office is closed now until 7th
January.
Thanks.
Thank you for
your generosity last week.
27 people worshipped
with us last Sunday and 30 people came to our
Midnight Mass. The collection
last Sunday was ?345 and that on Christmas Eve was
?68. This is on top of the
?1500 or so a month that is given directly to our
bank account via standing order.
The Board has decided to donate
the Midnight Mass collection to the Smile Project
in Bethlehem, we raised an additional ?97 for this
project over the last two weeks making ?165 to be
sent to them. Ian will be
finalising the 2007 accounts over the week and
we?ll have a grand total for you next
week.
Forthcoming
Services Next week we celebrate Epiphany, the end of
the Christmas season. On this
day we reflect on the visit of the wise men to see
Jesus. The format of the
service will be the same as our Advent
worship. The week after,
13th January will be our annual
Covenant Service which comes to us from the
Methodist Tradition. It is an
opportunity to renew our commitment to God at the
start of the New Year and also to pray for and
bless the Board of Directors in their role in
leading and guiding our church with
me.
Office
Closed. The
office will be closed this week.
Andy will be working at home preparing for
the Board weekend away and also for the Lenten
services (Lent starts early on in February).

is designed to help us grow spiritually by
giving a resource for our own daily prayer
times. It consists of a short "order of
worship" of a Psalm, other Biblical reading and
a reflection. It also gives ideas of
things to pray for.

are doing. You can catch up with the
sermon, and listen to it, if you missed church,
