Poll 1 - God's expectations of gay and lesbian people

We asked: Taking into account biblical content and the teaching of the Christian Church, I believe:

You answered:

Same sex relationships are no different in God's eyes to heterosexual expressions of mutual love. 66%
I am still deciding what I believe about this. 12%
While gay/lesbian sexuality may be a reality, celibacy is God's ideal where marriage is not possible. 4%
Sex between two people of the same gender is inherently wrong in God's eyes. 19%

Poll 2 - Gay Bishops

We asked: Regarding the appointment of gay bishops in the Anglican Church in UK and USA:

You answered:

It's the quality of the candidate that counts. Their sexuality is irrelevant. 67%
There's no problem, provided they live a celibate life. 7%
The risk of splits within the Church is too great. 3%
It needs more thought. Perhaps eventually, but not yet. 5%
I am opposed to it in principle. 18%

I accept the need for some legal changes, but don't like this particular proposal. 11%

The proposed legislation is fine and goes just far enough. 47%

Poll 7 - The British Airways ruling that a cross-necklace was jewellery and must be worn beneath the staff uniform.

We asked: What do you think of the BA position on this?

25 of you voted and you answered:

The position was wrong. The cross is symbolic of a Christian's faith and should be allowed to be on show. 32%
It was the correct decision in terms of the BA uniform policy, but the policy is discriminatory. 28%
Because the cross formed part of a necklace it was basically jewellery and the ruling was correct. 20%
All faith symbols - crosses, turbans, hijabs, etc. - should be forbidden in the uniform code. 20%

Poll 8 - The execution of Saddam Hussein.

We asked: Regarding Saddam's execution on 31st December 2006:

It was just and appropriate punishment at this time for the crimes he committed. 18%
It was premature. The trial should have continued to address his other crimes. 35%
The death penalty is always wrong - even for him. The sentence should have been life imprisonment. 47%
